Mom's big 60 and Hazelnut Plum Birthday Cake

It's one of these days when you really have to write something smart, and all you have in your head is yesterday's night buzz.

Greek salad (horiatiki salata) for dummies

My Grεεk friends must think I'm crazy writing about the Grεεk salad (horiatiki), because: "who doesn't know how to make horiatki?!". Well, believe me, there are people out there! During my travels I've come across many versions of that classic dish which claimed to be the "authentic" salad but they so weren't. Maybe these people had never even been in Greece, and the recipe they have is from "a friend of a friend who said he was on vacation in Greece", or maybe they just like to create - as I do.

Pappardelle with Mushrooms, Thyme and Sherry

Most of the time I work at home and quite often I get carried away and forget to eat. I usually realize that when my stomach gets louder than the music that I'm listening to. A plate of pasta is the perfect solution. Quick and easy meal when you are rushed and want some comfort food. Meal, which preparation takes as much time as boiling the pasta.

Olive Oil Biscottini (Biscottini Regina)

Wonderfully flavorful, and so simple to make, olive oil biscottini are perfect for dipping in your morning coffee or as a afternoon tea treat.

Pierogi with amaranth, broad beans and Greek anthotiro cheese

For those unfamiliar with the term PIEROGI, they are Eastern European stuffed pasta just like Italian ravioli or Chinese dumplings. They can be boiled or boiled and then fried. Either way they are delicious. I, myself like them steamed-fried, my Polish-Chinese fusion technique :)
Back home in Poland we make various kinds of stuffing, from sweet and sour cherry to potato and cheese. Options are endless, I like to follow my imagination.

Mint Juleps

After quite few hours of work I'm finally happy with the way the page looks like. There is still a lot of cosmetic and technical details which could be done but for now it's fine.

Oh, I'm so excited! Now I can move to the fun part! Cooking and posting recipes :)
Because today is my "grand opening" I'm going to celebrate with the mint Juleps! Julep is a delicious and refreshing cocktail, mixture of bourbon and mint, gently sweetened with sugar, poured over crushed ice and sometimes topped of with fizzy water.

So I finally did it!

I know there is many food blogs out there, but one more will not hurt anyone - I think.

I like simple, uncomplicated dishes . I do my best to control the quality of food on my plate. But I don`t overdo it; I`m not health freak. I like eating chia seeds and organic artichokes, but I also think it’s ok to have some fast food fries or a doughnut occasionally. I have my favorite places where I do my shopping, like the farmers’ market for my organic fruits and vegetables, my trusted fresh fish store and my beloved bakery. I don`t like processed, or frozen food... I can spend all my savings on good butter, chocolate or fresh fish. But I also like to shop at the big Supermarkets; I could spend hours there, just walking around... A tip:never ever go shopping food when you’re hungry;you’ll end up with lot of junk in your basket, but nothing you can cook for dinner, haha!

So let the fun begin!
