Borscht with Dried Prunes and Mushroom Dumplings

Borscht is a soup that is very common in Eastern Europe cuisine. You can find various recipes, a chunky version, with cabbage and beans, served with a dollop of sour cream - my childhood nightmare; cold, summer borscht blended with buttermilk or kefir, eaten with hard boiled egg and sprinkled with chives; or a clear ruby broth served with mushroom dumplings - in my home served always during Christmas Eve dinner.

Banana, Date and Honey Cake with Walnuts

My "Cake Saga" is still going on, and I think I would need a quite few life times to bake all the cakes I have planned! But this is a really fun project.

Today, uber flavorful and very simple to make, banana and date cake. Moist, a little sticky with gorgeous walnut crunch. You can mix walnuts into the batter if you like, but I don't like the way they darken after baking, so I never toss them in.

Chocolate Marble Cake with Pink Buttercream Frosting

This is as close as I could get to make a vanilla cake. Of course I had to twist it around and add chocolate touch to it! Honestly I think I have never made simple a vanilla cake.

Don't take me wrong, vanilla is one my favorite flavors, but I reallllly can't control my actions... ; )
